Cognation Seek Trail Building Firm for Margam Park Project

Do you happen to own a trail building company..? There aren’t many about but if the answer is ‘yes’ then you’ll be pleased to know there is a new project up for tender. The new trail planned for Margam Park, Wales, has been drawn up by Rowan Sorrell and now Cognation, the South Wales mountain bike trails collective, are looking for a company to put the plans into effect.

Here’s the lowdown from Cognation:

TRAILBLAZERS REQUIRED

Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council, as part of Cognation mtb trails South Wales, is looking to appoint a professional mountain bike trail building company for an exciting project.

Planning permission has been granted to create an events specific mountain bike trail in Margam Country Park and the opportunity to be the company that constructs this trail is now being advertised.

The development is part of Cognation a partnership project between Neath Port Talbot CBC, Caerphilly CBC, Merthyr Tydfil CBC and Natural Resources Wales and is funded by the EU’s Convergence European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government with match funding coming from the Welsh Government and partner organisations.

The trail, which has been designed by experienced trail designer Rowan Sorrell from ‘Back on Track’, is just over 5km in length and will showcase some of the park’s wonderful landscape whilst also being a challenging trail for top riders in the World. It aims to attract World standard events to the area competing with mountain bike destinations from across the globe.

Cllr Ali Thomas, Leader of NPTCBC satiated: “There has been a large investment in mountain biking in the area bringing economic benefit to the local community. The new trail in Margam Park will only add to this attracting more visitors into the area. This is an opportunity to be a part of a great project that will put South Wales on the map for Mountain biking events and we look forward to working with the successful company.”

The tender process is now open and any companies interested in tendering for the work should visit: www.sell2wales.co.uk
