After a very popular first year, grass roots racing promoters SIMBA have announced details of their 2002 summer series.
The races will be held in Dalby forest (near Scarborough, North Yorkshire) starting on May 19th, with subsequent rounds on June 2nd, July 7th, August 4th, September 1st and October 13th.
This year SIMBA series is a 4-round “challenge event” involving a different discipline each round with each result counting towards an overall prize. The events are: the “Timed singletrack dash” on Saturday June 1st, the hill climb on Saturday July 6th, the 35 mile XC Endurance race on Sunday August 18th and finally, the mountain bike duathlon (bike-run-bike on a 5 mile course) on Sunday September 22nd.
Those of you who can’t wait and want to race now will be delighted to hear that the winter series still has two rounds to go, on February 17th and March 24th.
We’ll have the results from this weekend’s race as soon as Jake sorts them out.
The events we’ve been to so far have had an excellent ‘just like in the old days’ atmosphere, so clear your diary and whether you’re a serious racer or not, get yourself up to Dalby. Full event details can be found on www.simbaevents.co.uk or by sending an SAE to:
