Looking for a bike-related business opportunity in Scotland? Get on to Forestry Commission Scotland – it’s looking for a team to run a bike hire/repair centre and café in Strathmashie Forest, Laggan, Inverness-shire.
There’s an all-new purpose-built trail scheduled to open later this year, and the new services are intended to make for a complete package for the visitor. FC Scotland and the Laggan Forest Trust, who manage the forest between them, are advertising for suitable people to manage the services.
FC Scotland district manager David Jardine said, “The Commission operates similar, highly successful franchises at other mountain bike trails on its land elsewhere in Scotland. For example, the one at Glentress Forest in the Scottish Borders [the Hub in the Forest] has grown to be a thriving and popular business that now supports a dozen local jobs.”
“The two main services we want to offer, cycle hire/repair and
catering, could be provided by one operator or two separate ones, and
depending on the operators and the final contract terms agreed, other
facilities such as bike-washing and information services will also be
included.”
Potential candidates should send written expressions of interest with brief details of their relevant experience to David Jardine, Forestry Commission Scotland, Smithton, Inverness IV2 7NL. The closing date for receipt of expressions of interest is Saturday 31st January.
