British Mountain Bike Race Series starts soon

Opening round at Sherwood Pines on 26/27 March

The British Mountain Bike Race Series returns to Sherwood Pines to kick-off the 2011 season on 26/26 March 2011.

Since announcing the dates in February, the series organisers have seen huge interest from riders and spectators alike with over 400 race entries having already been received for the opening round.

Amongst the riders taking part at Sherwood Pines in what is set to be a competitive battle are 2010 Points Champion and Olympian Oli Beckingsale, Norwegian cross-country champion Ole-Christian Fagerli and 2010 British National Champion Liam Killeen. Lene Byberg will also be flying in for the weekend.

Sherwood Pines’ famous fast flowing singletrack and short sharp climbs will offer the perfect setting as the riders are set to go head to head around a 7km course that will test out their reserves of stamina and speed as well as their technical riding ability.

Entries are still open if you fancy taking part in what is set to be a classic season opener to the UK’s premier mountain bike race series. Whilst there are no entries available on the day, you can still pre-register and see a map of the Sherwood Pines course at www.britishxc.com

New for 2011

Younger members of the family have the opportunity to get involved and emulate their XC heroes and heroines. British Cycling will be running free to enter Go-Ride Races for children before the adults take to the course. With categories for U12, U14 and U16 riders, these races are pure ‘entry level’ races for those new to the sport and who want to try it out in a fun and friendly atmosphere.
