The Brechfa Team Enduro (13 July) is a brand new event for 2008, and promises something a little different for the seasoned enduro rider looking for challenges new.
It’s the work of a group of volunteers who want to give something back to mountain biking and, in partnership with the Forestry Commission Wales, have developed the inaugural Ian Forshaw memorial Team MTB Enduro.
If you’re wondering who Ian Forshaw is, he was a leading light at the Forestry Commission who had a passion for teamwork and helped open up the forest in this area for MTB development. This new event is in memory of Ian.
The ride will be based in Llansawel, Carmarthenshire and the 36km route will be in the Brechfa forest using the Gorlech Red and the all-new Raven Black trail, with other bits thrown in. You can do either one or two laps, but the second lap will feature several bits different from the first.
Riders must partake in teams of three, mixed or single sex. Places are limited to 100 teams so don’t delay in getting your entry form completed and sent in.
The organisers say: “This event is being run on a small scale – we’re a group of riders wanting to give something back to MTBing, so no bells or whistles, no big promises and we don’t have any big sponsors supporting us. If you know any that want to help out, get in touch. We need marshals so if you don’t want to ride but fancy standing around in a wood all day, possibly getting wet, then please get in touch, any proceeds are going to support the Welsh air ambulance, so it’s for charity as well.”
