West Drayton Mountain Bike Club will once again be organising its annual Black Park XC race on Sunday March 13, 2011.
In an effort to provide categories for all abilities and ages on the three-mile circuit there will be U10s, U12s, U14s and U16 youth races held in addition to Beginner, Fun, Open, Vet and Grand Vet categories.
For 2011, the race will also be incorporating the London Single Speed Championship with a £150 cash prize up for grabs, courtesy of the Bucks Off-Road Sportive, for the fastest rider with one gear.
The Specialized Concept Store in Ruislip has also stepped in as lead sponsor and will be providing prizes for those quick and skilful enough to make the podium.
Boosting the bumper prize haul is WDMBC club sponsor and Specialized stockist Beyond Mountain Bikes, The Feed Station and Dirt Divas.
Former Southern XC champion and WDMBC chairman Chris Denman said: “The Black Park race is a great season opener and will give the racers an early indication of how their winter training has gone.
“The circuit will be the usual mix of tight twisty single track and short stretches of fire road which require not only good bike handling skills but strength and stamina.
“We’ve also worked hard to get some good sponsors on board and those making the podiums will be taking home some decent prizes.”
Paul Miller from the Specialized Concept Store in Ruislip added: “The Black Park event is local grass roots racing at its best.
“Whether you are a complete beginner, a weekend warrior or a hardened racer, this event has something for you. This is exactly the sort of event that we like to sponsor and we are excited about being involved in 2011.”
