Bazza’s two fingers…

Barrie Clarke had, according to National Coach, Gary Foord,
"the best race I have ever seen him do!" A final 12th place was hard-earned
after a poor start saw him down in the fifties on the opening lap. After that it
was forward all the way to the finish, and as big names cracked on the demanding
circuit in hot, humid conditions, Barrie never faltered.

As expected Liam and his team-mates "celebrated" as a Champion should following
his win on Saturday: he was still wearing his winner’s jersey at breakfast on Sunday!
At the post-race press conference Liam was quick to pay tribute to his coach, Gary
Foord: "The win would not have been possible without the help of the Lottery
sponsored Performance Programme and my excellent working relationship with Gary Foord."

Team Manager, Simon Burney also praised Foord’s coaching: "Gary has succeeded
in getting Liam and all the Under-23 riders to the start line in the best form of
their young lives on the day that has been the focus of their year since last November."
