When Maximum Mountain Bike are singing the prases of a factory direct
bike,
you should sit up and listen. They liked the Airborne Luck Strike a lot
(see
Sept ’99 issue) despite the fact that you have to pay a great whack of
import
duty on it when you’re ordering direct from the US. The sheer number
of component
options means you can get a custom titanium bike built up at or below
normal
off-the-peg prices.
The good news is that you can now order these bikes from a supplier
in the
EC, avoiding import duty. Airborne’s EC outlet is in Holland, so you
pay only
local VAT when delivery is to an EC address. Actual UK price will
depend on
the Euro exchange rate, but the latest price list as at 16th August
looks like
