Gorrick MBC is back in 2005 celebrating the tenth anniversary of their Spring Series.
Exodus Adventure Holidays will again be providing all riders with the chance to win a fantastic mountain biking holiday to great destinations like Morocco, Italy and Spain.
Local bike shops will be providing series prizes for the top racers in each category, plus there will also be trophies for the top riders in each race, with cash prizes for the Expert/Elite racers.
There will even be a special prize courtesy of www.bumpybikes.com at each round to celebrate ten years of Gorrick racing in the south of England.
The 2005 XC Spring Series race dates are as follows:
- Sunday 30 January, Crowthorne Wood
- Sunday 20 February, Heath Warren Wood
- Sunday 13 March, Yateley Heath Wood
- Sunday 3 April, Frith Hill, Deepcut
- Sunday 22 May, Porridge Pot Hill, Deepcut
The Spring Series is known to many of the south’s riders as being one of the most difficult championships to win. With points only available to the top eight riders and fields often bigger than 30, racing is always close and hotly contested.
As usual there are categories to suit all abilities, so don’t worry if you’re not the next Liam Killeen. Just come along and ride some great singletrack, with the added spice of trying to catch the rider in front.
This year three classic courses start things off. With the flowing singletrack of Crowthorne, the north shore and tight singletrack of Heath Warren and Yateley Heath’s fast and loose circuit there’s sure to be something to appeal to all riders.
From here on though it’s into uncharted territory. Gorrick has picked two new venues to round off 2005, with a few real treats in store.
Then there’s the Gorrick Gill 100 Enduro (1 May, Swinley Forest). It’s the hardest enduro in the south, so this year we’ve put it on a Bank Holiday weekend so you can have a day to recover. The ten mile lap consists of some legendary Surrey Hill granny ring grinding climbs, with just as much fun coming back down. You can complete between one and seven laps, but be warned – 70 miles is much more than it seems and those Surrey Hills take no prisoners.
Once again, Gill will be sponsoring the event.
As usual you can enter all events on the day, but you’ll save time and money if you pre-enter. All forms and everything you’ll need to know about the Spring Series and Gorrick 100 is on www.gorrick.com
