Destination: Delamere Forest, Cheshire
Deep in the heart of affluent Cheshire, Delamere Forest has something for all levels and types of rider, you just have to do a bit of exploring to find it.
It’s incredibly accessible, with hourly train services from Manchester and Chester that’ll drop you right on the forest edge and save you the lofty £6 for the day parking fee.
How to get there
Train or, if you must, drive. From Chester take the A51 towards Nantwich turning left after five miles onto the A54, following signs to Manchester. After another four miles, turn left onto the B5152. The visitor centre is on your left, by Delamere train station.
Sat Nav: CW8 2JD
Facilities
The Full Forestry Commission Monty: information centre, cafe, toilets, bike wash.
Trails
Way-marked trails are limited to two green graded efforts: the 6km Hunger Hill trail and the 11 km Whitemoor trail. Both are very tame, wide tracked family friendly affairs and, for more exciting riding, you’ll need to explore.
There’s quality singletrack all over the forest and a decent skills area with a 4X track, jumps and berms.
