This is not Temecula and Yuri Hauswald is not in the picture. That is a Marin Mount Vision Pro, though. 1 out of 3 will have to do
We’ve only just given Marin’s all-new Mount Vision the full test treatment (in its full-XTR Pro variant) and found ourselves generally agreeing with Marin’s assertion that, while the old MV was largely a trail-capable race bike, the new one is more of a race-capable trail bike, if you see what we mean.
And lo and behold, Marin’s latest pro signing has only gone and proved the point. In his first race for Marin, endurance racer Yuri Hauswald rode a Mount Vision to victory at the 12 Hours of Temecula in the US. To be strictly accurate, he didn’t ride it for the whole race, but don’t think that he just pulled it out for a token lap at the end – Hauswald covered 113 miles and over 15,000ft of climbing overall, starting on a titanium hardtail but switching to the Mount Vision at the halfway point.
Clearly it was a sensible choice: “The Mount Vision handled the stutter bumps and roller coaster sections very well, and allowed me to rip through the night without much worry as to what kind of hit I might take,” said Hauswald at the finish.
And don’t think that 12 hour racing in January is any easier just because you happen to be in California – “It was difficult to get ready for the the 9 am start because the temperatures were in the mid 20s [about -6°C] and all of my bottles had frozen.”
