The Ritchey TrailMasters powered by Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport will replace the infamous TransWales and Mashup on the UK cross-country enduro calendar in 2012.
TrailMasters is a three-day event on August 17-19 which features more than 220km of riding, with in excess of 7,000m of climbing and six special stages.
If the three days are too much for you and you can only spare a day or two you can also come along and take part in the day rider event on the Saturday (August 18).
TrailMasters will be based in the very heart of Welsh mountain biking – Llanwrtyd Wells, one of the most famous mountain bike locations in the UK and home to the UK’s first mountain bike centre more than 25 years ago.
The route, designed by John Lloyd, combines linking stages (untimed long distance rides) with special stages – off-road time trials. By doing this the organisers aim to cater for those who want to see what the area can offer as a cycling destination while indulging more competitive urges within the special stages.
An event village will be open throughout with a programme of fun rides, test courses, fun runs, kids activities and films – all free of charge – to entertain the support crews and the families who have come along to enjoy the weekend.
And once the riders have returned in the evenings there will be live music, an on-site bar, film and photo shows, technical seminars and maybe even a pub quiz.
The new TrailMasters website is open for business at www.trailmasters.cc. Entry ranges from £175 to 3250 for the three-day event, depending on what package you choose, and £75 for the one-day ride.
