The 11th Bristol Bikefest played out under unpredictable weather but the sun shone on the events main race, the 12-hour team, pairs and solo race on Saturday, despite looking on Friday like the event would be renamed the Bristol Mudfest.
Despite the weather and the state of the camp site (vans getting stuck, tents being blown across the field and generally squelchy underfoot) the newly resurfaced trail around Ashton Court proved resilient to the heavy rain in the week leading up to the event. The gravel surfaced ensured the course was running fast and bikes finished Saturday’s race with just a light coating of dust.
Bikefest has cemented itself in the calendar as a must-ride event, appealing to Lycra-clad racers with eyes on the podium, and trail riders just looking to have a bit of a blast and enjoy the great atmosphere the event manages to put on every year.
There was some excellent racing across the categories, and there’s far too many to list here, so here’s a link to the Timelaps webpage with all the results from Saturday and Sunday.
