Rollapaluza Bristol

Rollapaluza took its roller racing extravaganza on the road and headed to Mud Dock in Bristol last Wednesday for an evening of electric entertainment.

The event, sponsored by Iron Horse, attracted 71 riders from all over the West Country to the rollers including top racers Simon Richardson, Andy Magnier, 4X racer Duncan Ferris and regular singlespeeder (and local) Matt Carr.

Duncan Ferris blazed his way to 19.75, the 5th fastest ever time and one of only ten competitors to go under 20 seconds of the now 7000 who have competed on Rollapaluza rollers. In fact, his time was just 3/10ths of a second behind Chris Hoy.

Into the final round and with the distance clocked up to 1,000m instead of 500m for all the qualifying rounds, Ferris would meet his match in the shape of Marcus Mumford, who pipped a tired Ferris in the last few hundred metres to take the top prize.

As is usual at Rollapaluza there was a healthy ladies entry with some close and exciting racing, fastest qualifier Sarah Barber looked dominant throughout the evening and took a fine win.

A great night, with a fantastic atmosphere, generously sponsored by Iron Horse who provided the prizes, a brand new Transit 0.0 single speed bike for each of the winners.
