Like clockwork the Original Source Mountain Mayhem 24-hour race kicked off at Eastnor Park last weekend, and the 14th edition of this race saw some 2000 people racing around the demanding course.
Much of the talk in the week leading up to the race centred around one thing and one thing only; the weather. It didn’t look good, with heavy rain most of last week, but on the day the weather held good and the competitors were treated to good conditions.
The race has continued to evolve over the year and is still a popular draw with experienced mountain bikers and those people taking their first steps into this sport. There’s fierce racing at the front of each category but at the other end the fast lap times are replaced with smiles bigger than the Kenda climb. Now more than ever before it’s a race for all.

Results overview
Taking a quick look across the results sheet, we can see that Ant White repeated his solo win in 2010 with another visit to the top step of the podium. Cranking out an impressive 21 laps, with reportedly only 5 minutes spent off the bike, was enough to claim victory.
Right behind him though and taking the race right to the line was David Powell, also on 21 laps. Behind this pair was Jason Miles a lap adrift.
Rickie Cotter continued her dominant form to take the honours in the Solo Women race, with an awesome 14 laps. Behind her, also on 14 laps, so another close finish, was Lisa Kamphausen. In third on 13 laps was Sally Daw.
In the hotly contest Expert Men’s category Hope Technology drafted in Liam Killeen and the Olympic hopeful helped the team to the win in that class, with a staggering 19 laps. Team Scott and AW Cycles finished second and third respectively.
The Open Women race was won be the Scott Contessa team, with Four 4th Lights and Raceline Girls right on their heels.
