Rocky Mountain UK rider Scott Beaumont has added the National 4X Series title to his National Championships jersey to make it a dominant double winning year.
The weekend of 16/17 August saw Scott travelling to the UK Bike Park in Dorset to compete in the final two rounds of the UK NPS 4X series, one of the premier 4X series in the world. Racing was going to be fast paced and very close as the series has seen record numbers of riders competing in the 2008 series.
Going into the final two rounds of the series Beaumont had already secured the series title by scoring four wins out of the first five races with five out of the seven rounds to count for the series. Scott wanted to make it a clean sweep of wins and take the title in style, saying: “I had a personal goal to win all the races on at least one day so that I would have a perfect score for my overall.”
With the National Championships jersey on his back, Scott set his sights on winning rounds six and seven of the series and making it another clean weekend of wins. Scott had a clean set of motos and qualified for the finals on both days where he showed a clean set of heels to the competition and claimed back to back wins in the series.
After the competition Scott said: “I am really proud to have won both titles in one year, and together with my 6th place at the World Championships this year, it has easily been my most successful year ever in my Mountain Bike career.”
In the Female Seniors ex-European BMX Champion Charlie Phillips fancied a change this year making a switch to big wheels and took the series title.
