The Sea Otter Classic in Monterey, California, hosted the first big dirt jump event of the season, the Furry Fury Invitational presented by SRAM.
Windy conditions made riding the already demanding course even more demanding. John Cowan was the man behind the course, and was obviously thinking big when he penned it. A start ramp (in what can only be described as frightenedly huge) got riders rolling, followed by two big dirt jumps with wooden kickers – all pushing the riders to their limits with back and front flips aplenty.
Lance McDermott was judged to have given the best run, with an extended back flip-front flip combo putting him ahead of Kyle Strait and Jamie Goldman. Lance walked (or rode) with $1,200 prize money.
We’ve got more words and pictures from Sea Otter coming soon so keep checking bikemagic…
