Josh and Cait triumph in Andalucía Bike Race

Conditions weren’t always favourable in the Spanish stage race

Kristian Hynek and Pavel Boudny, two Czech members of the Ceska Sporitelna-Specialized Team, were confirmed as the first Andalucía Bike Race winners.

Even though they didn’t win any of the stages, they showed their consistency with two third places and four seconds. In their own words, despite the fact that “today’s stage was very hard” and they “suffered” to reach the finish line in second position, Andalucía Bike Race has been their “first challenge of the season” and they leave “tremendously satisfied”. “Of course we will come back next year.” they commented.

In Elite Women category, Stans No Tubes Orthapedic with Sally Bigham and Kristine Noergaard were victorious in Andalucía Bike Race, winning every stage of the race. The battle was behind however, for the second step of the podium: Sandra Santanyes and Isabel Castro versus Jennifer Smith and Kathy Sherwin. Finally, the Americans got the triumph and the Spaniards from Bicis Esteve had to resign and they were thirds.

In Mixed and Master, Torq Performance’s Josh Ibbett and Cait Elliot and Danish Masters triumphed in all the stages respectively, taking the gold medal of their respective categories.

After completing six stages, cycling over 400 kilometers and passing through two provinces, the possible challenge is already accomplished by 98 of the 172 participants who decided to join this adventure.
