There’s always a good showing of pro race bikes at Eurobike. Brands like to get hold of the professional’s bikes, fresh from the most recent race, slap them on their stand and sit back and see the attention they get.

Nino Schurter’s Scott Scale was drawing some admiring glances on the Ritchey stand, so much so that I had to wait a good few minutes before the crowd dispersed and I was able to point my camera at the bike.

It’s a fairly standard build from Scott, albeit wearing a full SRAM XX groupset and Ritchey carbon seatpost, handlebars and stem to reduce unnecessary weight. Foam grips are a racers favourite upgrade over the stock items and short stubby bar ends, aligned nearly completely horizontally, give Nino an additional hand position when climbing.

Of course, the stem is slammed with a huge negative rise to get the bars insanely low. My back hurts just to look at the photo, let alone imagine actually riding it.

The Scott Swisspower team have a penchant for special wheels. Nino’s bike was no exception. Ritchey Superlogic Carbon rims laced to lightweight Ritchey hubs with the rare and very expensive Dugast 50mm tyres glued to the rims.

Mathias Fluckiger’s Trek Top Fuel 9.9 looks fast just sat still on the Shimano stand. Using Trek’s reknowned OCLV carbon process the bike is about as light and stiff as it’s currently possible to get, while the Full Floater and ABP technology keeps the suspension taut and supple.

Mathias gets a full Shimano XTR groupset with a 2×10 setup, internal cable routing, Bontrager carbon finishing kit and lock-on grips.
