When the guys from Bergamont Bikes ‘dropped in’ last week we knew they meant business. How did we know that? The simple fact that they had made the effort to drive all the way from Germany to show us some of their new 2013 bikes was a dead giveaway for starters.
Bergamont have been a big name in German cycling for a number of years, but on this side of the pond we have barely heard of them. Why is this? Who knows, but now that the brand has a dedicated UK distributor in the form of Reece Cycles we can expect to be hearing a lot more from them.
What are their bikes all about? Simply put, these bikes represent value for money. Where they possibly aren’t going to contend with the big-boys in terms of out-and-out performance (although looking at the bikes we reckon they will certainly hold their own), the big wow-factor is the price. This 650b wheeled Threesome, for example, comes in at under £3,000.00 complete and from the shop floor – Bergamont aren’t all about mail-order like some of their rivals – meaning that after-sales service won’t be an issue.
Let’s have a look at Bergamont’s Threesome SL 9.3, the top-of-the-range model that will be available in the UK soon at an estimated retail of £2,999.00 (price to be confirmed):
Keep an eye out for more about Bergamont bikes here on Bike Magic soon.
