Interbike: More day 2

As we write, Interbike 2003 is over. The exhibitors are packing up their booths and we’re packing our bags. We’ve seen a whole heap of new stuff – this is the rest of yesterday’s selection, we’ll bring you what we saw on the final day and some other show-related bits and bobs during the rest of the week…

Airborne move into the long-travel suspension arena with the new Marauder.

Astrix DH/freeride bike looks like a single pivot but it’s actually a parallelogram linkage.

Brooklyn Machine Works attracted attention with this exceptionally shiny TMX.

The Chase is Cannondale’s entry into the hardcore hardtail market.

Devinci’s tandems feature an independently coasting drivetrain, so either of the riders can stop pedalling or start off with a different foot forward.

Detail of the Devinci’s drivetrain magic.

Evil were showing this work-in-progress gearbox bike. Evil’s working with Nicolai and Rohloff on a gearbox standard.

This looks a lot like a Brooklyn, but in fact it’s a Gack. Great name…

This is possibly our favourite bike of the show – Intense’s 5.5 is a new VPP offering with a dash more travel than the Spider.

Looking for something like an Ellsworth Id but a bit beefier, a tad slacker and with a lower bottom bracket? Take a look at the new Moment.

Conversely, Cove’s Playmate is a steeper and higher version of the Peeler.

The Quadcarver is a sort of hybrid of microscooter and longboard. The rear steers by leaning, the front steers by, well, steering. Sweeping powerslides ahoy!

Seven’s new Duo Lux is an 80mm travel version of the Duo, using the Maverick Monolink suspension system.

Ride in snow or deep sand a lot? You need a Vicious Cycles Thunderwing…

Norco is pushing the freeride hardtail envelope with the new Torrent, complete with 7in of fork travel.

The long-awaited Santa Cruz VPFree packs eight inches of travel in an easy-pedalling VPP package. Pretty smart looking, too.
