The Prevail marks Specialized’s latest evolution of its helmet range, with an even lighter weight and improved ventilation the main promises.
The biggest development is in the battle to keeper the wearers head cool. “4th dimensional cooling”, as Specialized call this latest design, uses deep internal channels with 25 large vents along with exhaust ports to improve ventilation.
A claimed weight of 185g is impressive; it sure feels light when handling it. A new Pro Fit 260 retention system offers a more secure fit with a micro-dial for easy fitting and five steps of vertical height adjustment.
It’s been designed for the road cyclists, and as such there is no provision for a peak, which will put some riders off but we know that plenty of mountain bikers prefer peak-less helmets anyway, so won’t miss it.
