Details have emerged of the Nuke Proof 2012 range of bikes, which builds on a solid launch at Eurobike two years ago.
Of the three bikes, the Mega is the one that gets us excited. It sits nicely in the middle of the range, an all-mountain/enduro/alpine/mini-downhill sort of bike. It features a 6061 aluminium double-welded aluminium hydroformed frame with 150mm of travel.
Other details include a 44mm head tube (nearly standard that isn’t it?), cable guides for a dropper post, 12x135mm bolt-thru rear end. The suspension platform is a single pivot design with a small rocker link, the ‘Erosion’ link. That drives the shock to deliver 150mm of bump squashing travel.
We like Nuke Proof’s pricing, you don’t have to break the bank to get your hands on one. Hotlines will offer two builds, the £2399 Comp gets a RockShox Monarch shock and Lyrik RC fork, Nukeproof finishing kit and SRAM drivetrain, while the £3999.99 Pro gets a posher SRAM X0 components and a Reverb post. Additionally the Mega is available as a frame only costing £899.99 with a Monarch shock.
