I saw a lot of bikes at Eurobike. One of the most common questions posed by other journalists and members of the trade while there was “what was your highlight” and every year I struggle to put my finger on just one.

Now I’ve had a couple of days to reflect, I’ve been able to select my highlights of the show. Impossible to narrow it down to just one bike or product, so instead I’ve picked my 20 favourite bikes and products. Here they are, in no particular order.

These new shoes are from a US-based company called ZR. They’ve only been going a couple of years but we really like the design and thought that has gone into them. The sole for example is stiffer along the front half where the SPD fitting is, and is flexy along the rest of the foot to make walking a little more comfortable. Great styling too.

Oakley’s latest shades, the Fast Jacket. They use a version of the Jawbone’s Switchlock Technology that allows quick and easy lens changes. Visually they’re more subtle than the loud Jawbones, which I like. They kind of remind my of my old Half Jackets from years ago.

The Scott Spark 29er. One of my favourite bikes of the show. Partly because of the awesome stealth matt black paintob, but also because it’s one of the lightest frames in the world. Now available as a 29er for even more warp speed. More detail here.

I would easily clear space in my garage (if I had one) for this all-carbon Yeti SB-66. Really good looking bike this, and can’t wait to hit the trail to find out if the rear suspension is as good as they say it is. On looks alone they, it can’t fail. Let’s just hope it’s really as good as it looks.

There was definitely a trend for some of the manufacturers to go stealth with their top-end all-out race-ready bikes, such as this Cannondale Scalpel. I need to ride this bike.

Not new I ‘ll grant you that, but Santa Cruz’s Highball still looks damn good. And I’ve included it here just because this is the first time I’ve seen the this matt black paint option. More info here.

Exposure Lights have made small changes to its range, with a 7% increase in brightness across the range. It had a couple of new accessories, and this simple sucker mount is such a great idea I had to include it.

OK, so it’s not a mountain bike. But god damn how fantastic does it look? It’s Germany company Canyon’s new time trial bike. We may just have to break out some Lycra and a pointy helmet and take one for a spin…

Good to see Rocky Mountain coming out with some really sorted bikes, with plenty of focus on 29ers next year. This one was getting a lot of attention.

No I didn’t upload the wrong picture. This is the head tube junction on Trek’s Superfly, and boy what a great looking part of the frame it is. As people like Trek pursue ever higher levels of stiffness it seems the head tube junctions are becoming ever more elongated.

One camera not enough? Try two. This is GoPro’s new 3D camera setup, the first 3D camera that you can strap to your lid and film relive your trail riding in even more realism.

I love Lezyne’s range of tools, and these new workshop tools look great. I’ve emptied my tool box in readiness…

Bionicon had this nifty chainguide on its bikes. Simple, light, comes in several colours, what more can you ask for.

Again, not a mountain bike but as I do like a spot of cyclo-cross riding and racing in the winter, this World Cup Giant race bike got me a little excited. Nice wheels and tyres.

One of the few really innovative bikes on show, Look’s strange headset/front-end design looks better in the flesh than it does in pictures on the interweb. Trust me on this. Full details in this article.

Salsa has updated its 80mm Spearfish 29er for 2012, “ultra-endurance racing and riding machine, perfect for 100-milers, 24-hour races, and all-day singletrack session,” says the company. The frame gets stiffened with a Maxle rear axle for next year.

Some funky curved handlebars from Ritchey. What do you make of them?

The Chris King stand at Eurobike is always worth a look. Not just for its lovely headsets and hubs, but also for the Cielo. A real darling of the 29er world.

Fresh from the trail, this mud covered Nicolai I really like. Particularly the Gates carbon belt drive setup and general aggressive look of the bike. Ideal for UK winter trail riding? I think so.
