Eurobike 2008: Report 9

Orange

The Orange Alpine 160 is, yes you guessed it, a 160mm version of the 5. Geometry has been tweaked to make it all a bit slacker for chucking about

Strange is the name Orange uses for its prototype bikes, and allows the company to try out new ideas on the public

Orange has been getting in on the linkage game and has added one to this bike, and the shocks mounted to the top tube

Adjustable head angle too, and massively beefed up everywhere else

The colour may divide (I like it though), but it’s good to see Orange still offering a nice sorted hardtail frame. This is the all-new R8 however…

…which uses a Reynolds 853 tubeset. Looks wonderful from every angle doesn’t it

Painted stem to match the frame is a great touch

Charge

Chained up outside Charge’s launderette inspired stand was this Duster Ti race spec bike

There’s an Alfine hub in this Duster’s back wheel

Mavic

Mavic’s new Crossmax SLR, revealed a while ago on BM. 2009 could be a good year for the French manufacturer.

Much weight has been lost from extensive removal of material on the rims

The new Deemax may have lost their unique yellow paint, but they still stand out

20mm bolt-through axle on the front hub. Funky decals everywhere else
