Bristol-based Engage Bikes has launched its first MTB frame. Called the Soul Brother (not to be confused with Cotic’s popular Soul), the emphasis is clearly on value for money rather than pushing the design envelope. In these days of increasing bike prices, though, there’s not much wrong with that.
Geometry is pretty conventional, although designed around 80-100mm forks rather than the currently-popular 120mm option – Engage say that there’s a 120mm frame in the works. Tubing is 6061 aluminium, cable routing is along the top tube, the head tube takes a semi-integrated headset and disc mounts are regular IS.
The price is very agreeable, though, at an eminently wallet-friendly £99.99. That includes a two-year crash replacement warranty – terminally prang your Soul Brother and Engage will replace it for fifty quid, which can’t be bad.
