It’s often said that bikes designed in the US rarely take into account factors unique to the UK (with thick mud being chief amongst them). With this in mind, US-based Astrix has set up shop in the UK.
Astrix frames are imported by RidingHighUK, and between them the two companies have decided that what’s needed is a full range of UK-specific frames. With a European DH race team made up entirely of Brits (Ben Baker, Scott Mears, Andy Wright and Sam Flockhart), Astrix has plenty of experience to draw on.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the three frames developed cover the harder-hitting end of the spectrum, with the 8.5in Havoc R, 5.5in Domino and the Union, described here as a “big boy’s BMX”. The Havoc R and Union share names with, and are derived from, bikes in Astrix’s US range but with geometry, travel and other changes. We don’t know much about the Domino beyond name and travel, which is a pity as, going on travel alone, it sounds like being the most popular frame in the line-up.
As more details become available, they’ll appear at www.astrixeurope.com…
