Regular top place finisher in the Avalanche Trophy series of madhatter DH/Enduro races, current European DH Marathon Champion Remy Absalon is preparing for Mega Avalanche on the 8 July and has just taken delivery of a brand new bike.
An event such as the Mega Avalanche requires a special bike. A full-on DH bike will be too heavy and slow to manoeuvre on some of the slower and twisty sections of the course, so a lighter shorter travel bike is often preferred.
For the 2008 season sponsor Commencal have pulled out all the stops, with a super slick Meta 6. The 2009 spec bike is fitted with tough yet reasonably light components, including Race Face, SRAM XO, Maxxis tyres, Marzocchi fork and shock, SDG post and saddle. And, of course, a custom paint job with his name stenciled on the top tube. But the finishing touch? A drilled out seatpost clamp. Yup, think of all the grams saved. It’s like 1992 never happened…
