No-one raced XC quite like JMC
On 24 August 1995 Jason McRoy was riding his motorbike home along the Woodhead Pass in Derbyshire. It’s a notoriously dangerous road, and that day it claimed another victim – a collision with a truck on a blind bend ended Jason’s life tragically early. He was just 24.
Why are we telling you this? Well, while plenty of people out there remember JMC and fully appreciate what a hugely talented rider he was and the massive influence he had on a generation of UK mountain bikers, you have to have been around bikes for quite a while now for your memory to stretch back that far. And we think that more recent arrivals to the MTB party should know about him too.
Jason’s life story is a remarkable one in all sorts of ways. But we’re not going to tell it here – Jason’s dad Jim has done a much better job of that than we ever could. So make yourself a cuppa, make yourself comfortable and head on over to the recently-relaunched www.jasonmcroy.com. We guarantee that it’ll be worth your while.
