The Vulpine Short Sleeved Alpine Jersey is a slick, merino performance jersey that will look and feel good even at the end of long rides.
What they say: As at home down the local espresso joint as it is racing the hairpins of the Alps, heatwave ascent or foggy descent, this is a multi-temperature, multi-social performance cycling jersey.
What it is: Most people know about Vulpine’s calling card, it’s never solely about the performance of their products, there’s always a heavy dose of style. The short-sleeved Alpine jersey is their take on the ubiquitous cycling jersey and of course, they bring their style game. Built from 100% merino wool, the lightweight, stretchy material is as much of a guarantee to keep you cool and dry as you’re going to get with a jersey. And having ridden it in hot heat, the full-length zip is another smart feature for when you just need to let it all hang out.
Available in a range of subtle shades, technical features include a rear reflective strip, light hook, zip pocket and dual button-down pouches. If you’re being a real curmudgeon then you might find the buttons a pain in the… lower back. Reaching around for zips or elasticated openings makes much more sense in my book.
Clinging ultra close to the skin, the light merino wicks away moisture as effectively as anything I’ve worn and the complete lack of bulk in the textile means it will dry on your back in no time. The cut of the jersey is long in the body but the waistline features a silicone gripper to double up against ride-up. Despite its £89 price tag there’s a lot of value here.
Who it’s good for: All merino and all style, weekend roadies and relaxed urban riders alike will appreciate the marriage of performance and good looks – apart from those superfluous button-up pockets, of course.
