Each panel of the Tenn Outdoors Vibe gloves has been designed to protect or cushion the particular part of your hand that it covers. Why should a glove be made out of the same material for the entire palm and fingers? They all do different jobs, so a glove should be designed to look after each part of your hand.

On the palm side of the Vibe glove, there is a piece of padded foam that’s intended to protect your ulnar nerve. That sounds like marketing magic, but this is the largest unprotected nerve in the human body. This the same nerve that causes that ‘funny bone’ feeling when you bump it, and it’s very susceptible to injury, so extra protection is welcome here. The padding also helped to reduce arm pump on longer, rockier trails.

Over your fourth and fifth finger knuckles there is a stretch Airmesh panel. This is breathable and noticeably allows greater movement. These are the fingers we usually find get loose first on gloves, as they stretch from being constantly wrapped round the bar. The Airmesh should help prevent this, and that’s what we found. After the test period they were as snug as when we first pulled them on.

The third finger of the Vibe gloves has a panel of perforated material to let sweat out, and we found it seemed to work, with our hands getting less clammy than expected on a hot day.

Your braking fingers are covered by a thicker material with silicone over the fingertips to improve lever grip. Padding between the thumb and forefinger – in what glove makers amusing call the thumb crotch – cushions the part of your hand that takes a lot of the load.

With a lightweight mesh back (and a towelling panel for wiping your sweaty face), the Tenn Outdoors Vibe gloves are most suitable for summer conditions or for riders who want more feeling on the bars and brake levers.
