We may still be enjoying the last of this year’s summer but Canadian clothing company Sugoi are already looking ahead to 2013. We took a sneak peak at some of the highlights in next year’s spring/summer mountain bike collection.

The RSX Shirt is part of the Cooler Collection, made from a fabric called IceFil; a material which contains Xylitol, the same compound used in chewing gum to give it its refreshing flavour, which Sugoi say will help keep your skin cool when it comes into contact with moisture (i.e. sweat).

The fabric also helps keep harmful UV rays at bay thanks to level 50+ UPF sun protection, while the collection also includes the Cooler Cap, Arm Coolers, Knee Coolers, Leg Coolers and RSX Shorts.

The liner on the new RSX Shorts is also infused with Xylitol and Sugoi claim it will help keep you up to 40 per cent cooler compared with a conventional fabric.

That’s not the only innovation on the shorts, however. They feature a BOA Closure System on either side of the hip which uses a dial to adjust a thin wire which runs around the waist. We’re more used to seeing BOA on shoes, where it allows quick, on-the-fly adjustments and that should carry through to the RSX Shorts. Sounds like a good idea to us.

Meanwhile, the lightweight RS Versa Vest uses magnets instead of a zip which should make the gilet easier to take on and off while riding.  Otherwise it’s made from a windproof and water resistant material, while there’s also reflective detail to help keep you seen when riding in low light.
