Rohan is a brand long-favoured by outdoor enthusiasts and the Yorkshire-based company have unveiled a four-piece cycling range.
It’s primarily targeted at commuters, with Rohan stating on their website: “Our cycle-specific Rider collection is technical cycle gear of the very highest calibre so, whatever the weather, you’ve got no excuses for getting in the car.”
Perhaps of most interest to us, particularly considering the current wet weather, is the Elite Stormer Jacket, dubbed by Rohan as the “no-compromise waterproof jacket for the keen rider”. It’s made from the same fabric as Rohan’s Elite Jacket, with a three-layer material consisting of a polyamide outer, a Barricade membrane and a tricot lining – a combination designed to ensure it’s waterproof but also breathable. The jacket’s available in red only and comes with a £195 price tag.
Meanwhile, the Windrush Jacket (available in red or grey for £115) is a packable number which Rohan reckon is small enough to fit in a saddlebag. Unsurprisingly, it’s windproof, but also has a water repellent finish in a bid to keep out the odd shower. Both jackets are available in men’s and women’s cuts.
The men’s range continues with the Cadence Polo (red or grey for £55) – “a technical bike jersey disguised as an everyday polo” – and the Outrider Shorts (grey, £60), which has a cut which looks conventional but the back is slightly higher and the legs are forward tilted. The shorts are unpadded so you can wear your own cycling shorts underneath, or Rohan sell a padded liner separately for £17. The women’s-specific range is made up of one item from now – the Fleet Leggings (£55), designed as multi-sport three-quarter length tights.
