Who?

What do you mean “who?” The Coca-Cola of sport clobber are back in the
cycling game thanks to a link up with Trek and their apparel designers.

Getting shirty

Style + cut

With a V neck and big baggy cut this is definitely the most casual jersey in the test, it’s only the three back pockets stopping it being a T shirt. Strangely on such a light and silky feeling garment Nike have put a massive piece of contrast piping (and attendant chafing seam) all the way round the chest and upper back. This is mildly irritating in an ‘always aware of slight tightness/chafing way’ off the bike, but really irritating under Camelbaks and similar bags.

The V neck definitely keeps the jersey on the casual tip too, as there’s no

hope of extra ventilation or whipping it over a helmet.

Fabric

We’ve no complaints about the feel of the fabric though. It’s light, silky and really free moving (which makes that stupid seam even more noticeable) and it shifts sweat and dries really quickly so you won’t have a big damp patch if you ride down to the pub too hard.

Again we’ve got a big gripe though, and that’s with the ease with which threads get pulled by shrubs or even Velcro on gloves and stuff in the washing machine. For all its smart-casual styling it was looking tired and tattered within a week which just ain’t good in a supposed MTB jersey.

Sizing

Generously flappy.

Pockets

3 pockets on the back panel is the classic cycling style, but the baggy cut and V neck means anything heavier than keys or a bit of loose change really drags the back down and pulls the neck up round your throat. Hardly ideal.

Special features

Like it or not that little Nike logo will mean a lot to some people.

Should I buy one?

The silky fabric and loose cut should make this a casual winner, but the fabric unravels fast, the pockets aren’t supported enough and the mid-seam drove us nuts even when we were just sat about. A real shame as it’s good-looking and reasonably priced for the label.
