There’s always some anticipation when a press release arrives from Fox, and today one has come bearing news of the company’s new autumn range.
Highlights of the new range is the Breakaway jacket, an £80 Soft Shell riding top that with its fleece lining should be capable of preventing your body heat from escaping while protecting from the elements. An inbuilt hood can be worn ‘underneath a Fox Flux helmet’ it says, and there’s two zipped fleece lined pockets on the front and two chest pockets, one of which features an ‘audio integration port’.
At £60 the Dawn Patrol is a two-layer fully seamed waterproof jacket made from 100% nylon fabric. To avoid overheating the back of the jacket has a ‘cape back construction’, though it’s a feature that will clearly work better without a hydration pack on. The front full-length zipper is waterproof and on the pocket front there’s two hand pockets and one zippered storage pocket on the back, lined with reflective zipper tape.
The £100 Bionic Soft Shell jacket appears to be a hoody top in disguise, but with a polar fleece lining and DWR Coating and taped seams, it should excel in tough conditions on (or off) the bike.
With jackets covered for the upcoming autumn season then, the next layer down is covered with the £45 Regulator jersey. It’s a semi-fitted jersey with a full-length zip, it’s made from a quick dry polyester with perforated panels under the arms and a 2in collar and two rear zipped pockets.
Fox has the legs covered two, and quite literally with the new £40 Evolution ¾ length liner shorts. Designed to go underneath your regular baggies, the Evolution is made from a Nylon/Polyester/Spandex mix with flat-lock stitching for a comfortable fit and there’s Fox’s own EVO-M chamois.
Lastly, as a nice partner to the Evolution’s, the ¾ length Attack shorts are a durable mid-weight alternative to regular length baggies. Sitting just below the knee they afford extra protection for your joints on really wet and muddy days, with four pockets in total and a concealed inner waist adjuster.
