Your essential guide to high visibility cycling clothing
There’s some 250,000 miles of roads in the UK, and that means, even for the most determined mountain biker, some road riding will be in order. And if you commute to work, then you’ll know about the obvious necessity of being highly visible when dicing with other road users.
As so much of our cycling seems to take place under the cover of darkness at the moment, and for a good few months yet, here’s some high visibility cycle clothing that ensure other road users won’t have an excuse for not seeing you.
Respro Hump backpack reflective cover £35.99
Stretches and clips into place over any hydration or backpack, and gives a massive boost of visibility. Also handily keeps mud and water out of your bag.
Mavic Vision Jacket £119.99
The company famous for its wheels and rims successfully turned to clothing a few years ago, and this Vision jacket is a real highlight. A Warm Shell material will keep you toasty and the long strips of reflective material around the chest, arms, shoulders and back should get you spotted.
Madison High Visibility Slapwrap Bands £7.99
A cheap and effective method of giving yourself some extra high vis this winter. Wrap around an ankle for the best results.
Respro Plain Sticker Kit £11.99
Sticky reflective Scothlite sections cut in various shapes and sizes for easy application to your bike, component or helmet, or wherever you fancy slapping them. We like them because they’re not garish yellow.
Altura Night Vision Evo Vest £34.99
A simple gilet, or vest, in stylish black lined with reflective details that fits easily over your jacket. Mesh panels stop you getting too hat, and the full length zip makes for easy removal when you don’t need it.
Respro Helmet Band £15.99
A one size fits all helmets, with a stretchy material completely covered in highly reflective material. Good for night riding.
Altura Night Vision jacket £69.99
A popular choice for many is the Altura Night Vision jacket, and it’s easy to see why. Packs the features in with loads of reflective details on the arms, chest and back, pit vents, a fleece lined collar, two pockets and a waterproof and breathable 2-layer fabric ensures it copes in the British winter.
