The lure for manufacturers to add a 29er mountain bike to their range is just too much for some, and the latest to make the leap to the bigger wheels is UK-based Whyte, who today revealed a 29er is in the latter stages of development.
It’s been in the testing stages for a couple of months, with the team riding it at trail centres around the UK and their local trails in Cheltenham gaining valuable feedback on this new model. It’s still very much work in progress, which explains the lack of details on the spec of the frame, presumably because they’re still to make final decisions on such matters as geometry.
“The bike is a work in progress, where we have been fine tuning our geometry. As with all our bikes the geometry is key to our design concept,” a Whyte spokesperson tells us.
If you’re going to Mountain Mayhem this weekend, keep your eyes peeled as the proto will be making an appearance out on the course.
