Been holding off buying a Santa Cruz because you wanted the ability to choose a custom paint job for your new frame? Well the wait is now over, the company have just announced their new Custom Color Choice Program, or CCCP for short.
It essentially means you can choose the finish of your frame from a choice of options running into the thousands. However it does only apply to the aluminium frames as it’s a powdercoat program. And each and every CCCP bike is finished by hand in Santa Cruz, California.
CCCP is already available on the Jackal, Chameleon, Highball, Blur LT, Tallboy, and Nomad. Each CCCP frame can be finished in one of two different clear coat options: Gloss or satin. The gloss finish deepens the luster of the entire powdercoat/decal combination, and makes the “metallic and trans color options pop harder,” says the company’s press release. The satin finish mutes the final color choices, and makes for a “more stealth look.”
Initally there will be 12 colours to choose from, going all the way from conservative to loud. Santa Cruz intend to add more options in due course. Once you’ve selected clear coat and color, there are FOUR styles of decal on tap for the introduction of CCCP: Large strip, small strip, large block and small block. The “strip” designation indicates the classic italicized downtube style we have been using since Day One. The “block” designation represents the style of decal found most recently on the Butcher, Nickel, and Jackal graphics.
The decals mentioned will be available in five colors: black, white, red, yellow and silver. As with the powdercoat colour options, the colours for decals, as well as the styles of decal available, is likely to expand as the CCCP evolves. All told, the models, colors, decals, decal colors and finish options add up to 2876 potential choices!
