Orange Mountain Bikes has added a brand new women’s specific hardtail, the Diva, to its range for 2010.
The company says the Diva is “designed to be more comfortable and better suited to the female physique and all that comes with it. But more importantly we’ve designed it to promote confidence where a man’s bike would fall short. A stretched position on a bike doesn’t just make it uncomfortable, it makes it unwieldy and difficult to negotiate the simplest of trail features. We’ve made a bike that inspires confidence on all terrain, and that is what this bike is all about, on the trails or the cycle path, good old-fashioned fun.”
Geometry on the Diva has been specified to centre the rider on the bike, giving good balance and a stable ride. As well as a shorter top tube, the seat tube angle is steeper to push the rider forward over the bike and keep more weight over the front end.
The frame is made from 6061-T6 butted aluminium. Attention to detail extends to the fitting of 170mm cranks, narrower handlebars and a WTB Speed-She saddle for comfort. There will be two sizes, 15in and 17in, available. It’ll cost £799.99 and for that you get a spec comprising of a Rock Shox Tora XC Solo Air 100mm fork, Shimao Deore/SLX components, Avid Juicy 3 brakes, and wheels made with Shimano 525 hubs and Mavic XM117 rims, wrapped in Continental Mountain King 2.2 tyres.
