Cotic Soul updated with tapered head tube

It became an instant classic when it was released way back in 2003 (was it really that long ago?), Cotic’s Soul threw out the rule book and redefined hardtails, designed around a longer travel suspension fork for a long-forked but non-jumpy hardtail.

Today Cotic have revealed the third generation Soul. It gets minor updates that bring it into line with some of the key developments reshaping mountain bikes at the moment, including a tapered head tube and 34.9mm seat tube to accept dropper seatposts.

The Soul is a versatile bike. Equally happy built up with lightweight components or a burly build for taking on more demanding riding, the changes open up the opportunity to run a Soul with the latest generation of tapered steerer tube forks, the geometry accepting up to 140mm travel.

With a 44mm lower diameter and the same 34mm top diameter, the new head tube is exclusive to Cotic. The new seat tube, which allows a 31.6mm seatpost to be slotted in, is claimed to be 15% stiffer than the previous tube. Hose clips are fitted to the underside of the top tube to stop the hose or cable flapping about.

The Soul frame costs £499 and comes with a Hope seat collar and includes UK mainland delivery.
