This time of year is perfect to go on the hunt for discount mountain bikes, as many retailers try and shift 2013 bikes to make space for brand new 2014 bikes, which are being released right about now.

We’ve had a quick scout around some online retailers and picked a few attractive looking deals for you.

Canyon Bikes

canyon Nerve CF 9.0 SL

German brand Canyon are selling a load of bikes through their outlet store. This Nerve CF 9.0 SL stands out as a bit of a deal, it’s reduced by £427.36 and now costs £3,161. Still a large pile of cash granted, but a lot less, and it’s a 1.9kg carbon 120mm full-susser with a SRAM XO groupset, SIS XX World Cup fork and Mavic Crossmax SLR wheels.

The bike uses the Switch suspension technology they introduced just a couple of years ago and it's one smart, highly desirable machine. The Specialized Camber 29er has been a well-received bike this year (here’s our review) and we’ve found this excellent deal. It’s down from £1,500 to £1,200; a 20% discount. It’s an alloy frame with a RockShox XC 30 100mm fork and custom tuned Monarch shock with Specialized’s clever Autosag - inflate to 300psi, sit on the bike, press the red button, and voila you have the correct sag.
