Signature products are big business throughout the sporting goods industries, and UK component manufacturer, X-Lite, has employed this marketing tactic with a new range of downhill products endorsed by Steve Peat. There are three products new products carrying the big man’s scrawl, all aimed at the freeride/downhill market.
First up is an oversize handlebar using a 31.8mm diameter. Dubbed the Fatboy, it goes one step further than Tioga’s DH Riser bars, but works on the same principle that increasing the outside diameter creates a very strong, yet lightweight handlebar. According to X-Lite, Steve has used the same bar all season, despite some epic wipeouts, but it’s still going strong. Price is £59.50.
Tech specs are:
- 31.8mm diameter clamp matches DHR stem
- 6061 aerospace aluminium
- Shot-peened to relieve stress
- 680mm width with 8° sweep and 50mm rise

There’s also a standard diameter handlebar aimed at dual/street/trials/dirt called the Assasin Urban Assault. It features tapered wall thickness, 6061 aerospace aluminium, shot peened finish and laser-etched signature. Price is £45.50.
Finally, there’s a new stem called the DHR. It’s available in both 31.8 and 25.4 clamp versions to match the both the Fatboy bar and standard diameter DH bars.
