SRAM have announced that from January their X9 shifters will benefit from the same ball bearing technology as the higher-end XX and X0 components.

All 2012 X9 9-speed and 10-speed trigger shifters (front and rear shifters, in all colours and across 2x10, 3x10 and 3x9 speeds) will use the same pull lever ball bearing technology as the more expensive units, replacing the current bushing design.

The components manufacturer says the upgrade will results in a "more solid feel, more precise shifting, and overall higher performance".
