Here it is, what you’ve all been waiting for (apart from those leaked images on the web), Shimano’s brand new XTR groupset.
Following the release of XT and SLX with added Dyna-Sys 10-speed goodness, Shimano has given its top-flight groupset a major overhaul. The main points to realise are that there’s now a 2×10 and 3×10 option, but more interesting than that is the choice of a XC or All-Mountain flavour.
XTR has always been the racers options, and the XC option continues that: the best performance and the lightest weight based around a 2×10 setup. Choose All-Mountain and you get 3×10 and different brakes and pedals.
The XC groupset is claimed to be nearly 300g lighter than the current XTR groupset, while the AM option adds about 160g back on.
