These new RST forks turned up the other day. Though they share many features they’re actually quite different internally. The BAS model (grey) features Englund-alike air cartridges that do the suspending, using air damping to control the movement. The white forks are a standard stanchion-and-slider-as-airspring type of fork, and run at a lower pressure.
Very little to say about them at the moment, except for the fact that
1) I’m sorry I stood in the way and there’s a shadow on the picture – I’ll shoot another one shorlty.
2) There stanchions are anodised and plated – or something equally fancy – according to RST. The coating does seem to be extremely tough. Certainly something that we’ll be challenging in the weeks ahead.
They’re not on my own personal bike just yet, but one pair are probably going to our digital-crayons bloke Matt to have a look at. Then again, perhaps a BIKEmagic member might like to test a set for us?
E-mail in a product test that we can put on BIKEmagic that you’ve written yourself to let us get an idea of your style or submit them on the site, and if yours is good enough, we’ll send you the forks to test. How good is that, eh?
