Hayes’ big lever hydraulic discs carry on as before (except that there black) so don’t expect any extra handlebar space soon, but there’s a new cable disc the first samples of which are just recovering from jet lag in Cornwall as we speak.

After the first versions we tried – released for pre production original equipment testing in 1998 – got rightly slated as nasty pumpy, fady ugly objects, Hayes started again. The results look very neat and tidy. The same, easy dial style, adjustment as the Avids means set up should be easy however wonky your frame alignment and stateside designers we know (and trust) who tried them are well impressed.
