WTB updates tyre range for 2010

WTB has redesigned its WeirWolf tyre

WTB’s range of TCS tubeless tyres will now be available in the UK through distributor Hotlines.

TCS (Tubeless Compatible System) offers the weight of a regular tyre but with a UST tubeless bead and can either be used with inner tubes or adapted to tubeless when combined with WTB-approved sealant and rim strips.

“TCS tyres offer the best of both worlds,” says Katerina Rejchrtova, CEO of WTB Europe. “These tires combine the benefits of tubeless with the minimal weight of an XC race tyre.”

One of the company’s most popular tyres, the WeirWolf has been redesigned after a five-year collaboration between top endurance downhiller Mark Weir and WTB’s chief designer Mark Slate.

WTB claims the new design helps the tyre to “boast unparalleled grip, predictability at any lean angle, and is packed with features.” Some of those features include an extra row of transitional knobs between the crown and side knobs, and the side knobs are terraced (or stepped) with a progressive flex design.

This tread design should mean that the knobs are supple and conform to the trail in the early stages of lean, but the faster or harder you lean the firmer the knobs become for more confident cornering.

Additionally, the WeirWolf is available with Inner Peace (WTB’s puncture protection – thin strips of Nylon, integrated into the tire’s sidewall, which offer the ultimate protection against pinch flats, cuts and punctures), dual compound and TCS.

These features exist on all WTB’s all-mountain tyres, including the WeirWolf 2.3 AM TCS, Wolverine 2.2 AM TCS and Mutano 2.4 AM TCS.

The new TCS tyres have just arrived with the exclusive UK WTB distributor, Hotlines Europe. Visit the Hotlines website at www.hotlines-uk.com or call 0131 319 14 44 for details of your nearest stockist.
