Schwalbe’shas launched the latest tyre in its range in time for the annual Sea Otter Classic, an event that sees many manufacturers release new products for the year ahead.
The new tyre, called Hans Dampf, which translates to ‘Jack of all trades’ is intended to be an all-rounder capabale of tackling a vast range of trails, as long as they’re anything like the dry, dusty and rocky trails commonly found in the US.
“Schwalbe specifically designed the tire for American trails, which are generally drier, more rocky and dustier than European trails,” explained Schwalbe head technician Markus Hachmeyer.
The tubeless-ready features the new TrailStar Compound, a triple compound specially developed to enhance trail ride performance. The three compounds include an easy rolling base layer; a grippy center tread and even grippier shoulders.
Available in 2.35in the tyre uses a large lugged tread design offering a big contact area with the trail and the sidewalls feature an additional tough layer of rubberized nylon fabric, an extra 40g on the tyres 750g total weight. The rubberized SnakeSkin sidewall ensures an airtight seal with the rim, but sealant is recommended.
