The Topeak Joe Blow Sport II floor pump is a no nonsense, sturdy steel floor pump with twin valve adaptors for ease of use.
What they say: The JoeBlow™ Sport has set the standard for affordable performance pumps and the fast selling sport is a shop favourite.
What it is: When you’re inflating tires at home there is no excuse for struggling for pressure in the way you would with a hand pump on a roadside fix. With this solid floor pump there’s no chance of that. A stalwart in the bike shop pump scene (is there such a thing as a pump scene?) the Topeak Joe Blow Sport II is a sturdy and relatively inexpensive piece of equipment. Constructed with a hardened steel base and steel barrel, what you lack in lightness, you gain in its ability to stand up to hard knocks in the home workshop.
Attachment is simple with a dual head fitted for Presta and Schrader valves and I’m yet to find a tube that has allowed any air to squeak out once the hose is clamped on. The official description gushes about the ‘padded elastomer grip’ but while there is certainly ergonomic comfort there is so little pumping required to get you up to 120psi (there is a 160psi maximum) that you’ll hardly have a chance to notice it.
Priced at just over £30 it is great value. But if you want a grasp for negatives – and let’s grasp – then the bumblebee colourway isn’t as aesthetically pleasing as some other floor pumps on the market, especially Lezyne’s easy on the eye, colourful metallic alloy range.
Who it’s good for: Whether you’re a once in a while rider or an everyday fanatic, everyone should have their own pump at home. The price and quality of the Topeak Joe Blow Sport II make it a pump worth investing in.
