If you’re riding for more than a couple of hours, you need to make sure you’re topping up your fuel tank. Powerbar is one of the best known energy product manufacturers, and their Ride Energy bar is a tasty alternative to a conventional chocolate bar.
Unlike some energy bars, this one actually tastes really nice. In fact, it tastes more like something you’d buy in a sweetshop, not a bike shop. That’s good because you’re more likely to consume it if it doesn’t inflict undue harm on your taste buds.
Flavour is a personal thing but I found the peanut and caramel flavour delicious – and that’s not a word I often (if ever) use to describe most energy products. It tastes like a regular chocolate bar really. A chocolate flavour is also available.
The 55g bar packs 22.5g of carbohydrate and 11.9g of sugar, with just 9.1g of fat. There’s also 10.4g of protein, sourced from Whey Powder. It’s crammed with minerals and vitamins as well.
Verdict
Tastes good and packed with energy and protein, a better alternative to a Snickers bar. Good for mid-ride stops.
